The Perfect Storm has one of the most satisfying set-ups in cinema.

I think I made a mess over at the People's Veto thread.

History is a vortex of weird, to paraphrase Capable.

I know what I'm watching tonight.

But thar also be: The Perfect Storm, Ghost Ship, All Is Lost, Dead Calm, There's a coup,e I can't remember them all right now. Naught of me to include Ghost Ship, I know.

i just watched 'running all night' i think it was called. it was pretty extra. liam neeson and that dude from 'the rock' - the general who was leading the army guys who had taken the prison... the 'tell your men to place their weapons on the deck!!' guy. what's his name.

so in this one, that guy's son is about to shoot liam's son (some sketchy drug stuff went down), so liam shoots that guy's son... and then that guy gets all mad and swears to kill liam's son. but that guy and liam are life-long friends, see, so there's that element of intrigue. liam then swears to kill that guy before he kills his son... and back and forth this goes until liam wins... because he always wins... because he's liam neeson.

but liam was in the right anyway; the guy's son was out of control and got himself into some shit... ended up having to shoot liam's son because he was a witness. but liam was like 'fuck that' and blasted the fool. here the guy should've let it slide because it was his son's mess... but being the gangster that he was, he was all dishonored or whatever and had to follow the book; avenge the son's death. the whole 'a son for a son' thing.

Liam Neeson not only doing stupid action movies but becoming that guy, instead of the incredible characters he had always played before, was one of the things that alerted me to the irreversability of this decline.

I can't do it. Tom Cruise, John Travolta, whatever. Their characters were always more razzle than depth. But Neeson... I could not forgive.

WHY LIAM NEESON! WHY!

No but it's the producers' fault. Man can't be expected to so easily say no to that wad of cash when nobody seems to give a shit anymore anyway.

Lol Liam Neeson. I don't know. Give me some time. I already watched all the John Wick movies.

Over at rehab there was much hubub about the one he apparently did where he fights snow wolves or something.

Those guys, I woulda watched it with. Hell, I watched two Avengers movies and... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWaeIKJ5MSI with them. Shit I even watched the sequel.

I generally despise that instrument. But I knew it was not it I should have been blaming.

Tiny Tim... Really?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_cont ... e=emb_logo. This guy can play. You can do a lot on a steel string uke you just can't do with nylon strings.

But I like the nylon.

The cuatro is very very similar. But seems to attract none of the insufferable corny.

The way you playd absolutely proves the power of nylon. Some hard things cannot be said in lower notes.

And those things tend already to be too hard for steel. It would clash.

Venezuelans are too exhuberant to play the appalachian blues style. But I find a lot of the same spirit exists.

I always figured he didn't want to miss out on the young generation of groupies. What there was when he was young pales in comparison. So he picked the perfect libidinal father figure role and played it until he was completely associated with that character. He wanted to avoid at all costs becoming the effeminate version of himself he used to play the nazi. He went for the alpha male before in Rob Roy, but that was not a good effort.

You cant blame him for securing a hypermasculine niche for himself in a world where gender is otherwise forbidden.

In my heart , he will always be an admiral at sea.

I don't know if he ever played that, but he should have.

That's one thing I deeply respect about Keanu.

He does it grudgingly.

The groupies are great.

But that was just an excuse. It was the money.
