A while back I ran into the book A conversation with God. Got a bit involved with an online community loosely associated with the subject matter.

Through that site I was introduced to some weird shit. One was a cult of what was termed the science of light and sound. No science and some really fucked up attributes for what light and sound are.

Another group was all "framed" around eastern traditions.

Get this, they charged a fee to become an initiate, when I objected the answer was give me the fee and I will burn it before us both, money is meaningless, yadda yadda; so I asked him to whip out just one of his hundred dollar bills and burn it to establish how little money meant to them and ...there was no fire.

So, isn't it all about a system, an infrastructure, that can get us all a day further down the road of understanding what to be human is?

I am, thus far, underwhelmed, even disappointed, some might say resentful by the answers the quest has yielded thus far.

I never thought I'd be taking an anti-depressant to deal with it. Cherry baby cherry. It's cheap medicine compared to what the wife is on. Sixty years without a prescription medicine and what do I roll in the pool of chance?

The Story of the Fur Lined Cream Pitcher.

I had two sets of grandparents that I got to grow up with. That is really lucky. A Granma and Grampa and a Nana and a Gamp. I visited my Nana and Gamp any time I was going to get another sibling. By the time my youngest sister was born my Nana was teaching me honeymoon bridge to pass the time. We had a trophy, an imaginary fur lined cream pitcher. When she let me win, she'd say that I had won the fur lined cream pitcher and when she won, she claimed the prize with glee.

Some time back there, later, while still a kid, I bought a cream pitcher and some fake fur material at a craft market, glued the fur to the inside and gave it to my Nana for Christmas. Seems as if, for as long as I can remember, she displayed it proudly like it was some creative wonder.

It sits on a shelf today in our home, where it has a different sort of worth/value?

My gripe with how economics are run go way back to when I was practicing illustration. I did a series of illustrations of birds you might find at a bird feeder. I performed the illustrations as a free lancer so the copyright for the illustrations remained in my possession, I wasn't performing as someone's employeee. The rights of reproduction were never contracted for nor transferred in any way. They used the illustrations for 7 years, printing hundreds of thousands of reproductions. I got taken. But I do get the satisfaction of running across one of my illustrations on the back of a bird feeder box on a store shelf to this day.

So yeah, I will admit to some resentment regarding how the system functions.

I did some consulting for Banta Digital. They had two systems that didn't interface and they were spending thousands of dollars a day in labor to work around the problem. I had previously read a white paper on postscript printer description files and as postscript was a text based language I could make some sense of it. The PPD files were text based, and all I had to do was rename the file with a txt extension edit them in a word processor, define an output size that was equal to the other system, save the file with a PPD extension and the problem of the systems interfacing was moot. Took me four hours and literally saved the company millions. They got the millions and I get to tell the story.

I realize now that isn't a problem with capitalism that it is a problem with how it is practiced and what it encourages. One a theory the other an implementation and endorsement. Intellectual property, not a claim on land or one of earths resources or a means of production, rather it was the result.

So yeah, you live to be sixty, and participate in the system, you're going to have similar experiences of getting fucked. That will teach you money isn't everything.

I've worked for the man and worked for myself and got fucked both ways. I ain't lying, It is was I believe. Reality/Truth who is to know? Me or we? Someone else did write that white paper. They likely earned it more then I.
