they only cancelled 2 shows ever. 1 when they were on tour with guns n roses and a riot broke out, and one in atlanta where hetfield hurt his back on a jet ski and couldn't perform during the summer sanitarium tour. i was at that 2nd one. so it was kid rock, (with the midget), korn, powerman 5000, system of a down and metallica...minus hetfield. so instead of just not coming on, they mixed up different band members and did a long crazy set. like the midget sang for whom the bell tolls, the dude from system of a down did master of puppets, they got some guy from the crowd who said he could sing one song, told him if he fucked it up they'd throw him off stage, he fucked it up and they physically threw him into the air and off the stage. it went on for hours and ended up on some vh1 top 100 concerts of all time list of some shit. that same night i got kicked off the marta (rail transit) in atlanta like miles from my hotel because i fell asleep on it. then i got a taxi and ended up getting kicked out of the taxi and to this day i have no idea what my friends did to piss off that taxi driver but he threw us out on the side of a highway. we walked to a waffle house and paid a waffle house manager to drive us around to these different marta parking lots looking for a car we could not find, and then eventually got back to the hotel after giving up on finding that car.

when i got back to the hotel, the manager some indian dude started yelling at me that i had to pay for some porn that was charged to the room but i hadn't even been in the room. one of our friends was wasted and left the show early and was passed out in there and i asked him about it and he said he'd been asleep the whole time. so i go downstairs and scream at and threaten the hotel manager to leave me the fuck alone and tell him that the proper thing to do would be to settle this shit at check out and not 4 in the fucking morning.

so then i raid the continental breakfast and take all these donuts and fruit and shit up to the room and long story short we trashed the fuck out the place and someone took a shit between the mattresses and my friend who worked at la quinta hotels who got us the discounted rates on all these rooms was fired.

i was once the drunkest person at a morbid angel concert and ended up backstage with the band and i didnt even know i was backstage or with the band the whole thing was hilarious. i have some metal friends who dress up all metal and live a metal life and occasionally i tag along with them in my khakis and sensible shoes. i spent new years once in a metal bar in brooklyn called duffs alcohol abuse center. hallowed metal ground that place. we rode around in the owner's hearse smoking some weed a guy mailed to me from colorado for the trip. i got to the post office in brooklyn a little late and the guy was closing it down so i couldn't get to this PO box and i made a big scene and was like "PLEASE SIR...THAT PACKAGE HAS MY MEDICATION IN IT" and this grumpy old man opened the post office back up and gave me a whole package of weed and edibles.

then there's these guys up there called the new york death militia which all dress up like bikers and do death metal and then they have all these groups across the country in all these states, and so they didnt have one in alabama and this guy i know was living there and got involved with them and started a whole group of them in alabama and he was like their little leader here for years. theyd have these crazy cookouts like outside the city and all these dudes would get shit faced and they all had guns and would shoot up in the air and shit and so like at these cookouts the rules were that you couldnt use any utensils and you just ate meat with your hands and most of them had these big knives like from that sons of anarchy show the ka bar knives so like 150 drunk metal dudes would be out in the sticks shooting guns in the air and getting wasted and eating meat off the tips of these knives the shit was insane theyd do it every year and theyd come from all over. then of course i would be there like wearing some new balance and a tshirt from the local university or some shit the whole thing was hilarious
