The NRA convention is in Houston TX this week

Postby Peter Kropotkin » Fri May 27, 2022 4:33 pm

Today the NRA convention started and look,
guns are not allowed inside the convention..
I wonder why?

having guns in schoolrooms, the NRA has no problem with that,
but having guns in their convention, no and hell no...
I mean who would want to get shot by a gun, right?
outside of children, I mean...

I haven't got the time to spend the time reading something that is telling me nothing, as I will never be able to get back that time, and I may need it for something important at some point in time.. Huh!? ~MagsJ

You’re suggestions and I just simply don’t mix.. like oil on water, or a very bad DJ ~MagsJ

K: So, we shouldn't hold people accountable for their actions?
Interesting take on gun violence...

I said no such thing.. I’m not on about the shooter, but the laws and legislation surrounding such matters. You play dumb when you’re ready, I see.. but not before.

You’re quick to counter when you think the ball is in your court, but don’t when it is not.. democracy? lol

K: Interesting thing about the law and legislation...
that it has been legal, in the law, to allow slavery,
women as property, blacks as 3/5 of a person,
the Holocaust was legal, laws preventing blacks
and whites from marrying, laws making being gay illegal,
and gay marriage was illegal as was smoking weed...
that committing suicide is illegal,
that in Mississippi, you can't have two children out of
wedlock, that in Rockville Maryland, you can't swear in public,
that in Colorado, you can't keep a couch in your porch,
that in Michigan, you can't sell a car on sunday....

Are you really going to depend on the law to do the right thing?

and I forgot, that it has only been in the last
few years, that in Saudi Arabia, that women
have been allowed to drive.. it was illegal for
women to drive... but of course, being legal and all,
that meets with your approval..

And interesting irony.
They know damn well that people who like guns, also like to use them.

Why are you now blaming people for gun violence? You think the gun is the problem, right?

Absolutely we should hold people accountable for their actions.

Here's two things being swept under the rug and not holding the PEOPLE accountable for their actions:

1. Priests molesting kids. No one talking about that, and no one held accountable. Over 1,000 cases in PA alone.
If that's an average, then there's 50,000 cases to be prosecuted in the U.S. alone, to hold those people accountable. But silence is what we have!

2. Government allowing the sale of Opioids. Over 800,000 dead and no government official sitting in jail. Again, what we have is SILENCE!

Instead, let's talk about all the items that can be used to kill people that should be outlawed:

1. Planes
2. Gasoline
3. Knives
4. Automobiles
5. Swimming Pools

https://www.cdc.gov/drowning/facts/index.html

Did you catch this in the link by the CDC?

Drowning is a leading cause of death for children.

In the United States:

More children ages 1–4 die from drowning than any other cause of death except birth defects.
For children ages 1–14, drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury death after motor vehicle crashes.

But let's not talk about outlawing automobiles or swimming pools, which motor vehicle crashes and drowning are the leading causes of death for children.
Let's talk about outlawing guns instead, which kills far less children in the U.S. (rolls eyes)

A letter to the editor of the Hartford Courant by Donald K. Martin on March 19th.

Yesterday I placed my shotgun on the front porch, gave it six shells, and noticing it had no legs, placed it in a wheelchair to help it get around. I left it alone and went about my business.

While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, the boy across the street picked up my yard, a girl walked her dog down the street, and quite a few cars stopped at the stop sign near my house.

After 10 hours, I checked on the shotgun. It was still sitting in the wheelchair. It had not rolled outside and It had not killed anyone in spite of many opportunities that had been presented. It had not even loaded itself.

Can you imagine how surprised I was with all the hype about how dangerous guns are and how they kill people? Either the media is wrong and the killing is by people misusing guns or I’m in possession of the laziest gun in the world. So now I’m off to check on my spoons, because I hear they make people fat.

There’s always more to every situation, than told/think.
